Vedbjørn Sand artist got the idea to build a Leonardo da Vinci bridge in Norway. He took the initiative and started the project and the bridge was built in 2001.
The bridge was originally designed by Leonardo da Vinci in 1502. It was 240 meters long and should be above the Bosphorus The Golden Horn, but was never built.
The bridge in Ås is reduced to 108 meters. Vedbjørn Sand had built it on the same model as Leonardo da Vinci's original drawings, but instead of a massive arch stone bridge in Ås has three glulam beams which runs in an arc across the road. On top of glulam beams is the bridge deck, which one can walk or cycle on.
